Young Ambassadors' Singing Entertainers Workshop

Join the BYU Young Ambassadors for five days of intense, high-energy musical dance theatre training.

Receive small-group instruction from experienced entertainers as you strengthen your performance abilities and develop proper technique in dance, voice, and stage presence, all while gaining more confidence as a performer.

You will have the opportunity to interact with other performers from around the country while you participate in group classes, auditions, rehearsals, and performance- enhancement workshops during your week. Other activities include an outdoor barbecue, a fireside given by the BYU Young Ambassadors, a musical theatre performance, the Entertainers’ Showcase, and Friday’s Final Concert.

Ages 14-18.

Paustenbaugh came to BYU in 2013 from Oklahoma State University where she was associate dean of libraries for planning and assessment. She attended Indiana University where she received her bachelor's degree in political science, a master's of library science degree, a master's degree in East European area studies and a doctorate in information science.

She joined the faculty at Oklahoma State University in 1990, becoming director of library development and outreach in 1995. In 2000 she was appointed the head of special collections and university archives. She has also served as executive director of women’s archives and as the Puterbaugh Foundation Professor of Library Service.

Mission Ready will provide an unforgettable learning experience focused on the doctrine, skills, and attributes that will help you become a successful missionary. Returned missionaries and former mission presidents will mentor you as you strengthen your testimony, increase your knowledge of the scriptures, and develop your teaching skills.

Stories from the mission field, devotionals and firesides, language study, district classes, teaching opportunities, and fun & uplifting social activities are all part of the Mission Ready experience!

Devotional - Barry Willardson, Professor of Chemistry

Barry Willardson, BYU professor of chemistry, will deliver the devotional address.

Willardson received a BA from BYU in 1984, and then went on to get his PhD from Purdue University in 1990. Following that, he did a Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of California, Los Alamos National Lab from 1990-92, and then was a staff scientist in that same lab until he came to BYU.

Willardson's research primarily focuses on Mechanisms of Assembly of Signaling Complexes. His lab lab studies the role of molecular chaperones in assisting the folding and assembly of protein complexes involved in cell signaling.

Aa planetary scientist, Radebaugh primarily works on Earth and other planets throughout the solar system. Her research focuses primarily on three planetary satellites: Saturn's moon Titan, Jupiter's moon Io, and Earth's Moon.

Devotional - Claudine Bigelow, Head of Viola Studies and Chamber Music Coordinator

Claudine Bigelow, BYU head of viola studies and chamber music coordinator, will deliver the devotional address.

Claudine Bigelow is head of viola studies and chamber music coordinator at the Brigham Young University School of Music located in Provo, Utah in the United States. She has performed in Europe, the US and New Zealand, and continues to be an active recitalist. As a soloist and chamber musician she can be heard on the Tantara label. She has been privileged to collaborate with Manahem Pressler, Orli Shaham, Ralph Matson, Paul Katz, Brant Bayless, the Fry Street and Avalon String Quartets.

Bigelow has played with the viola sections of the National and Utah Symphonies, Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra, National Chamber Orchestra and at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D. C. Every summer she performs with the Grand Teton Music Festival. Her varied performances have been broadcast on radio and television including PBS, NPR’s “Performance Today,” and KBYU-FM and KBYU-TV. Her studio recording work for television and film has been affiliated with LA East and LDS Motion Picture Studios.

In 2012, Bigelow was chosen to be a Fulbright Senior Scholar, where she served as artist-in-residence at the Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music in Wellington.

Students from the studio have found success in playing in sections of major symphony orchestras, have been featured on radio programs such as NPR’s From the Top, and won opportunities to solo with orchestra, including the Utah Symphony.

Bigelow has given presentations on BYU’s Primrose International Viola Archive (PIVA) around the globe. In May 2005, she was the host chair for the Primrose Competition and Festival and in 2008 served as the jury chair. She served on the executive board of the American Viola Society for seven years and has also been president of the Utah Chapter. Claudine coordinates the annual Primrose Memorial Concert.

Her articles have appeared in The Strad, Journal of the American Viola Society, American String Teacher and Strings Magazine. Her scholarship has focused on William Primrose, PIVA and viola-cello duos.

Bigelow received her DMA from the University of Maryland, College Park, her MM and BM from Brigham Young University. Her teachers have included Daniel Foster, Michael Tree and David Dalton. At the University of Maryland she participated in an intensive chamber music program coached by the Guarneri String Quartet.
